We remain surrounded by a number of uncertainties. Things to
watch out for include;
US
The showdown in USspending cuts and a new debt ceiling.
Eurozone
Political risks take center stage in Italy(parliamentary
elections in February) and Germany(September), which will
have a bearing on fiscal and debt reforms in Europe.
Asia
Elections and leadership changes will likely have important
ramifications for economic developments in 2013.
•  China, Japan and South Koreahad completed their new
leadership elections last year, including the election of
Korea’s first female President.
•  China’sleadership handover will take place in March 13,
2013. By then, markets could turn their focus to the
direction of the world’s second-largest economy over the
next 10 years.
•  Malaysia's13th general election is only months away
from their due date of 28 April 2013.
•  Indonesia’sparliamentary elections are scheduled for
April 14 2013.
